July 2022 | CUIIC Director Message

The launch of the Canadian Underground Infrastructure Innovation Centre (CUIIC) has been exciting and I thank you for your commitment. CUIIC has received an overwhelming response from organizations across the country with a diverse representation of underground infrastructure sectors. Together we are building a community of professionals who share a common goal: To foster innovation and provide cost-effective, sustainable solutions to the challenges involved in building, assessing, and rehabilitating underground infrastructure.

I am happy to share a few quick updates on the work CUIIC is doing. Our Education and Outreach Committee along with our Industry and Membership Committee have been formed and meetings are taking place. We are planning the launch of our CUIIC Webinar Series that is set to begin this fall. There will be opportunities for CUIIC Members to participate in these educational webinars. Stay tuned for updates on how to get involved.

The CUIIC Connect members-only networking platform is launching soon. This allows you to connect virtually with our community of underground professionals.

Lastly, as a CUIIC Member you are also a research partner with the University of Alberta. We are starting to prepare our first major research project and look forward to updating you as things progress.
