The Canadian Underground Infrastructure Innovation Centre (CUIIC) is currently partnering with industry and academia on the Wetland Retention Project, dedicated to preserving natural areas in urban development. Our goal is to retain the existing wetland's unique characteristics instead of replacing it, utilizing a combination of on-site and upstream measures to manage urban runoff's hydrology and water chemistry.
Our pilot project involves experts specializing in civil, construction, ecology, hydrology, and chemistry. Over a five-year program, we plan to monitor some natural wetland, working to promote the preservation of natural features in new developments with a strong focus on environmental, social, and economic sustainability. If your organization is interested in learning more or participating in this study, please email Alyscia Sutch, Research Marketing and Communications Coordinator at [email protected]. About the Canadian Underground Infrastructure Innovation Centre: The Canadian Underground Infrastructure Innovation Centre (CUIIC) is a research and education centre focused on important issues of underground infrastructure. CUIIC is located at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. CUIIC focuses on providing stakeholders across all sectors with opportunities to collaborate on research and training opportunities in underground infrastructure.
